Time Is Money: Delegate And Save On Commercial Cleaning

If you run a facility that needs commercial cleaning daily, then you know that little things can add up quickly. Small tasks here and there will compile, and ultimately amass to countless additional man-hours of labor. If you're outsourcing the entirety of your cleaning, this can be a big issue.

Think of it this way: every time you outsource a task to a third party, you're paying the cost of labor, supplies, and their profit. This is acceptable when doing so proves to be more convenient and valuable for your company, however, this isn't always the best option for every task.

There are many simple tasks that could easily be done in-house (like having each employee replace the liner in the trash can at their desk and leaving the old bag by the door) that are still being performed by janitorial companies. For weekly and bi-weekly cleaning schedules, this isn't realistically an issue. But for buildings that have cleaning multiple times a week, delegating this simple task to a janitorial company could end up in a significantly more expensive janitorial contract.

Because of this, I recommend delegating simple, un-cumbersome tasks to your employees. For example, at a daycare I would recommend having every teacher (or teacher's assistant) wipe down the desks, chairs, and learning materials in their rooms, as well as replacing the trash can liners and leaving the bags at the door. In a facility of substantial size, this could potentially save one man-hour of labor or more every time it's cleaned. Delegating in this way could compile and save thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars over the course of a year. This is certainly nothing to be glossed over.

Of course, you want to consider your employees and not stress them with too much ancillary work. Try to delegate simple tasks that only take 5-10 minutes every day. Most importantly, however, is to make sure you consult with your janitorial provider to see what could help them the most and how you can best attenuate the scope of work.

If this seems a little too complicated for you, don't worry! We are a janitorial company serving Delaware and Chester counties in Pennsylvania, and we're absolutely happy to walk you through how we can work together and help you save on a janitorial schedule.
